Standard Sport understands that while the process is not yet complete, West Ham have triggered the option to make Lamadrid’s loan permanent.

Lamadrid joined West Ham from Supercopa de Venezuela holders Deportivo La Guairaon in January on a six-month loan with an option to buy in the summer.

The 22-year-old initially joined up with the club’s Under-21s team and has yet to make a league appearance for the Hammers.

Despite failing to make his Premier League debut as West Ham sunk to relegation, Lamadrid did feature, in his only appearance to date for the east London club, as they beat Burton Albion 1-0 after extra-time in the FA Cup fourth round.

West Ham are expected to oversee wholesale changes to their squad following relegation, and as Standard Sport reported, they have placed an £80m price tag on midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

Internally, West Ham believe Fernandes can go on to become one of the best midfielders in the world and are therefore not prepared to let him leave on the cheap.

West Ham need to sell this summer, having dropped into the Championship for the first time in 14 years, and Fernandes is highly sought after following an impressive personal campaign.

The 21-year-old, who joined West Ham from Southampton for £38m last summer, has attracted interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
