This coming only hours after an earlier West Ham announcement, saying that Graham Potter had been sacked only six weeks into the season.

So Spurs sack Ange Postecoglou in the summer after they finish only seventeenth in the Premier League.

Forest sack Nuno Espirito Santo only weeks into the season. then replace him with Ange Postecoglou.

West Ham now sack Graham Potter and replace him with Nuno Espirito Santo.

That is Nuno Espirito Santo who not so long ago (well, November 2021) was getting sacked by Spurs less than three months into the season when they were ninth in the table.

Let this all make sense!

Basically, managers employed and then often quickly sacked on a regular basis in the Premier League, then moving to other Premier League clubs when their managers are sacked, all the time massive pay-offs having to be paid.

Now West Ham with their (latest) new manager travel to play Everton on Monday, who are managed by David Moyes.

That is David Moyes who West Ham got rid of in summer 2018, then brought back in December 2019 when Manuel Pellegrini proved a disaster.

David Moyes then got West Ham to finish 6th, 7th and 9th AND win a trophy, only to get rid of him again in summer 2024. The Hammers now on their third appointment since pushing out Moyes once again!

West Ham official announcement – 27 September 2025:

‘West Ham United is delighted to announce the appointment of Nuno Espírito Santo as the Club’s new men’s Head Coach.

Nuno has signed a three-year contract with the Hammers and will take charge of his first match on Monday evening when we travel to Everton in the Premier League.

He arrives at London Stadium having put together a hugely impressive coaching career, most recently leading Nottingham Forest to European qualification via a seventh-place Premier League finish and the FA Cup semi-finals last season.

A multiple league title and cup winner as a player with FC Porto and coach with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, the 51-year-old is among the most highly respected coaches in the modern game.

Nuno brings his outstanding coaching ability, tactical acumen and leadership qualities to West Ham United and is looking forward to getting down to work in east London.

“I am very pleased to be here and very proud to be representing West Ham United,” he said. “My objective is to work hard to get the very best from the team and ensure that we are as competitive as we possibly can be. The work has already started and I am looking forward to the challenge that is ahead.”

The São Tomé-born new head coach took training at Rush Green on Saturday afternoon ahead of the trip to the Hill Dickinson stadium on Monday evening.

Nuno will be assisted in the interim by Academy coaches Mark Robson, Steve Potts, Gerard Prenderville and Billy Lepine, with a further announcement on his coaching and backroom staff to be made in due course.
