West Ham are set to sign a striker this month after Niclas Fullkrug joined the club’s growing list of absentees.
Fullkrug is set for several weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring issue, leaving the Hammers short of options in the final third.
Michail Antonio faces a long recovery after being involved in a serious road traffic accident last month, while Jarrod Bowen is currently sidelined with a fractured foot.
Fullkrug’s issue leaves the out-of-favour Danny Ings as the only recognised forward in Graham Potter’s squad.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the East Londoners will now step up efforts to sign a forward in coming days and weeks.
West Ham have been linked with Brighton’s Evan Ferguson and Middlesbrough frontman Emmanuel Latte Lath. However, finances are understood to be restricted at the London Stadium this month. The latter has also been subject of a £16m approach from MLS outfit Atlanta United.
West Ham are keen to strengthen the squad this month, following the appointment of new head coach Potter. Loan deals could be the focus due to Premier League PSR restrictions, with Chelsea duo Ben Chilwell and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall reported targets.
