West Ham star to miss clash with Aston Villa | OneFootball

West Ham are set to be without Crysencio Summerville again for the trip to Aston Villa.

In their last game ahead of the international break, West Ham United will travel to Birmingham to face Aston Villa. Espirito Santo confirmed that they would be without Summerville, as the Dutchman continues his recovery from a calf issue picked up earlier in the month. 

“He’s getting better each day and we are assessing day-by-day, but for Sunday he is not available,” Espirito Santo said.

On a positive note, Oliver Scarles is match fit after picking up a knock, and Espirito Santo confirmed that there were no new injury concerns ahead of the weekend. 

The manager also praised Jared Bowen and Mateus Fernandes, who have both received call-ups for England and Portugal respectively. 

“I think it’s deserved,” he said about Bowen. “And I’m really happy for him. It’s one of the major goals for players individually to play for their countries.”

The manager was full of praise for Fernandes as well saying: “He’s playing well, he’s competing very well and has been improving since the beginning [of the season]. 

“He’s an immensely talented player and he takes a lot of responsibility within the team, and I think it’s deserved,” he finished.
