West Ham suffered a fresh injury concern when Jean-Clair Todibo withdrew during the warm-up before a 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa, denting preparations for Leeds United’s FA Cup quarter-final.
The Athletic reports that the defender pointed to his calf after a passing drill while consulting medical staff.
John McGinn and Ollie Watkins scored either side of half-time to seal the 2-0 at Villa Park. West Ham stay 18th, four points behind 15th-placed Leeds, who drew 0-0 with Brentford on Saturday.
Todibo has impressed in recent weeks under Nuno Espirito Santo. If the 26-year-old has a calf issue, he would be a major doubt for Leeds’ trip to the London Stadium in two weeks.
Star winger Crysencio Summerville is also sidelined with a calf injury, missing West Ham’s last two matches and a first Netherlands call-up. He is a doubt for the Cup visit of his former team-mates in under a fortnight.
It was only West Ham’s second defeat in seven league games, but the display came at a bad time.
"It is not good to go into the international break with this feeling. We have a lot of work to do." Espirito Santo told Sky Sports.
