Lauren Hemp is set to make her return to the England squad this weekend and she could have a huge impact on the team after missing the last international camp.
After such a successful summer with England, Lauren Hemp picked up an injury at the beginning of the WSL campaign.
Hemp was sidelined for the entirety of October with an ankle injury that ruled her out of the penultimate Lionesses camp this year.
The 25-year-old was a huge miss for Sarina Wiegman as her team struggled for goals against Brazil and Australia.
In Switzerland at the Euros, Hemp was one of her nation’s top performers. The forward netted just once in England’s winning run but her high levels of energy were impressive as she featured in every game.
Speaking on her return to the Lionesses setup, Hemp has opened up on her difficult time with injuries as well as her involvement in a “difficult” saga involving Mary Earps and Hannah Hampton.
Hemp has already made her return for City earlier in November.
The winger has scored in two of her three games since coming back to the WSL, as City topped the league following a perfect November.
After returning like she never left the pitch, Hemp could be in line for an immediate return to the England team.
The Lionesses are lacking serious depth in attack due to Michelle Agyemang’s injury and Lauren James’ omission from the team.
With that being said Hemp could come straight in on the wing against China.
The veteran Lioness will be keen to return to the goals straight away this weekend and if her performances for City are anything to go by she should have no problem at all.
Regardless of if she starts, the City star will receive a warm reception when she does come back to the field even if that is off the bench on Saturday.
