Matchday 17 of the Clausura 2025 is just around the corner, so Guadalajara is stepping up the pace in its preparation with the aim of arriving at its best for next Saturday's Clásico Tapatío. It is obvious to talk about the significance of the Rebaño's clashes against Atlas; however, this weekend's match has a particular flavor and here we will tell you the reasons why.
The main ingredient is the following: Chivas will be playing for a ticket to the Play In against Atlas and the only result that will help them is a win. Now, there is another point to keep in mind, and that is that the Rebaño does not depend on itself to crystallize the ticket to the next round.
Guadalajara is disputing the ticket to the Final Phase with Pumas, who defeated Santos 2-0 on Wednesday and, as a result, are once again in tenth place in the general table with 21 points. Chivas remains in eleventh place in the standings with 20 points.
What has to happen for Guadalajara to advance to the Liguilla?
- To begin with, Chivas needs to win the match against Atlas, which would take its total to 23 points. In the event of a win, the Universitarios are obliged to win, as a draw would leave them out of the competition.
- In addition, the Rebaño needs Pumas not to win next Saturday at the Volcán against Tigres.
- Even with a draw in the Clásico Tapatío, Chivas could still qualify for the Liguilla, provided that Pumas loses by a difference of 2 or more goals.
