Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter was back on our screens on Monday night after a spell away from the limelight and he was full of praise for Cole Palmer.

Potter has kept a low profile since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023 after a difficult spell at the club, but after a break he seems refreshed and was a guest on Sky Sports Monday Night Football.

The 49-year-old spoke about his spell at Chelsea, how he was ready to get back into management and of course shared his thoughts on man of the moment Palmer.

Graham Potter shares thoughts on Palmer

Palmer has very much picked up where he left off last season and his incredible four goal haul against Brighton means he now has six goals and four assists in the first six games of the season, with only Erling Haaland scoring more goals.

What Palmer has done and is doing is incredible and Potter was asked about his thoughts on the England international and admitted what he was doing was rare for any player.

“He’s been brilliant, we’ll run out of superlatives,” he told Monday Night Football as cited on X.com.

“His technical level is incredibly high, he’s so calm. He can score lots of different goals. What he’s doing is rare amongst any player wherever they’re from. Top, top player.”

Considering Chelsea paid just £42.5m the transfer already has to go down as an absolute bargain and one of the best signings the club have made in a long time considering his impact.

The Blues will be hoping that Palmer can lead them to trophies this season with the Europa Conference League a very realistic chance of getting their hands on silverware.

The supporting cast have stepped up so far this season and the Blues don’t appear to have as much of a reliance on Palmer, but it still feels like he’s very much their main man and will be central to any success the club have.
