Fabrizio Romano has played down recent Arsenal transfer news involving a potential move for talented young German forward Nicolo Tresoldi.
Christian Falk recently reported that it looked like the Gunners were favourites to sign Tresoldi, saying that the north London giants had a serious interest and that some talks were already underway.
Falk also confirmed this directly to CaughtOffside as he described the 21-year-old as the “future” of the striker role for the German national team.
Romano, meanwhile, has now addressed this story on his YouTube channel, suggesting that his information is that this is not as concrete or advanced as others seem to be claiming.
Different journalists get different things told to them by their sources, and for now Romano seems less sure about how strong Arsenal’s pursuit of Tresoldi is.
“Many Arsenal fans asking me if it’s true that Arsenal have started negotiations to try sign Tresoldi from Brugge,” Romano said.
“Look guys, at the moment it’s still early. So I’m not in a position to give you anything final, any verdict. But what I can tell you today is that, according to my information, between Arsenal and Tresoldi, there is nothing really advanced and nothing really concrete.”
It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the weeks and months ahead, but Arsenal fans will no doubt be hoping they bring in attacking reinforcements this summer.
Viktor Gyokeres hasn’t made the most convincing start to life at the Emirates Stadium, while Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have been below-par after problems with injuries.
It could be that Tresoldi is just one of a few targets being monitored by Arsenal, with Florian Plettenberg recently linking them with another talented young forward in the form of Bayer Leverkusen’s Christian Kofane…
We’ll have to see if AFC end up focusing more on Kofane or Tresoldi, or if they perhaps decide to go after someone else in the weeks and months ahead.
