Leeds United have 12 players away on international duty, with Daniel Farke hoping all return unscathed. Seven league games remain to secure safety after the break.
According to Leeds Live, some could also return disappointed if play-off bids fail.
Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Daniel James bid to take Wales past Bosnia on Thursday. Victory would earn a home final against Northern Ireland or Italy for a place at the finals.
Gabriel Gudmundsson and Sweden meet Ukraine, with the winners to play Poland or Albania for a spot at the World Cup. Joel Piroe will make his international debut in a World Cup play-off.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been called up by England for the first time since 2021, with Thomas Tuchel naming an expanded camp before Friday’s Uruguay friendly.
The group will be cut before facing Ao Tanaka’s Japan, and Tuchel says Calvert-Lewin and Dominic Solanke, both Kane-type options, could be vying for one World Cup spot, with minutes at stake against Uruguay.
Anton Stach has been recalled by Germany for the first time in nearly four years, with Switzerland on Friday and Ghana on Monday.
Noah Okafor returns to Switzerland after 16 months as an injury replacement. He could feature under Murat Yakin against Germany or Norway next week.
With Jan Oblak injured, Jaka Bijol captains Slovenia for this camp, which includes friendlies against Hungary and Montenegro.
Brenden Aaronson faces Belgium and Portugal with USA. Ilia Gruev has withdrawn from Bulgaria’s Indonesia friendlies for personal reasons.
