Grady Diangana left West Brom for Spain this summer upon the expiry of his Baggies deal
Grady Diangana’s six-year association with West Bromwich Albion came to an end in the summer, as he made the decision to swap the West Midlands for Spain.
It has been, by almost all metrics, a very tricky season for West Brom.
The Baggies find themselves languishing towards the bottom of the Championship table at this stage, with Eric Ramsay the man chosen to guide the club away from danger.
Ryan Mason’s tenure, although it started brightly, finished in a hugely disappointing manner, with the former Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City midfielders’ abysmal away record, in particular, with the Baggies playing a huge factor in his dismissal.
Numerous important players left West Brom over the summer, including the likes of Tom Fellows, Torbjorn Heggem, Darnell Furlong and Grady Diangana.
Diangana, who spent six years at The Hawthorns, left the club upon the expiry of his contract and has since made the move to Spanish top-flight side Elche, where he has yet to set the world alight.

Since joining Elche over the summer, Diangana has struggled to kick on.
The 27-year-old West Ham academy product has made just 13 appearances across all competitions since his switch, scoring once without assisting.
Incidentally, his only goal so far came in their 1-1 draw away to Valencia, managed by former Baggies boss Carlos Corberan, with the pair more than familiar with each other from their time shared in the West Midlands.
Elche find themselves in the midst of a hotly contested battle towards the bottom of La Liga, with just a matter of points separating 18th from 9th in the table, though Diangana has done little to help their cause.
Having joined the Baggies in 2020 from West Ham for a fee of around £18 million, Diangana went on to make 202 appearances during his time with the club across all competitions, scoring 26 and assisting 22, playing in both the Premier League and Championship.
It’s been an underwhelming start to life in Spain for Diangana, though he has more than enough time to make a meaningful impact at the club, with the Democratic Republic of the Congo international possessing the ability to make the difference in tight games.

West Brom are on course for their worst league finish in over 25 years, having never finished lower than mid-table in the Championship since 2000.
It will take a huge upturn in form for them to maintain their impressive record beyond this campaign, with Eric Ramsay the man tasked with doing so.
The Welshman had previously been a coach at Manchester United prior to undertaking the head coach role at MLS side Minnesota United, with West Brom being his first top job in England.
Having allowed Samuel Iling-Junior to have his loan cut short in favour of bringing in Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba on loan from Aston Villa, Ramsay has shaken up his wide attacking options.
Even with West Brom’s struggles this season, Ramsay likely won’t be losing too much sleep over the club's decision to allow
Diangana to leave during the summer, with his form having tailed off towards the end of his tenure with the club.
