The Champions League quarter-final second legs begin this evening with four Premier League sides currently trailing in their respective fixtures but there's still at least another 90 minutes to be played.
It was a humbling week for the richest league in the world but far from a disaster with home advantage now coming into effect for all of the defeated sides.
But which team is most likely to advance despite a first leg setback? Let's take a look...
Liverpool Chances: Good
The Reds have lost 1-0 twice to Galatasaray in Istanbul this season but should be able to make home advantage count if they keep their focus.
Even with Arne Slot suffering second season syndrome Liverpool's team is far stronger on paper at least than their opponents on Wednesday night.
However, a repeat Sunday's performance against Tottenham Hotspur would see them exit the Champions League. The Reds should have wrapped it up against Spurs but a late loss of intensity saw the visitors snatch a point late on. Perhaps that was a wake up call.
Manchester City Chances: Poor
It's not impossible for Pep Guardiola's City team to overcome Real Madrid but that three-goal disadvantage is a mountain to climb.
Like Liverpool, the Citizens showed their weakness in the Premier League midweek. Erling Haaland was ineffective and isolated and even with the second-half introduction of Rayan Cherki and Jérémy Doku they couldn't find a winner against a struggling West Ham side.
However, while Real Madrid are capable of European magic they're no vintage side and if City do get an early goal then the momentum could drastically change.
Chelsea Chances: Very Poor
A 5-3 first leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain was difficult enough for Chelsea but now that Reece James will be out of this game and for the next several weeks things are even more difficult.
Rumours suggest that Wesley Fofana will be dropped by Liam Rosenior after his poor performance against Newcastle United – one that didn't give confidence they could spring a surprise against the current champions.
However, if there's one bit of encouragement it's that they did manage to score twice in Paris... do it again and they're almost on the way.
Tottenham Hotspur Chances: Very Poor
Can Igor Tudor's Spurs create some momentum after snatching a late point at Anfield? It remains to be seen.
The first leg 5-2 defeat against Atlético de Madrid was a bizarre match. Antonín Kinsky's substitution was a big talking point but Guglielmo Vicario is likely to start this game, even if he was at fault for the goal Tottenham conceded against Liverpool at the weekend.
This time, Spurs will be playing on a much better pitch, certainly one that will be less slippery, and like Chelsea they know they can score against Atleti. Whether they can do that and keep out Antoine Griezmann and co will be the difficult part...
