The Los Angeles Galaxy saw a pair of players leave ahead of the second transfer window closing. However, the 2024 MLS Cup champions called up a defender to the main roster with something other than another MLS title in mind.

With less than two months to the season, the Los Angeles Galaxy are still at the bottom of the MLS Western Conference standings. Even winning against the Colorado Rapids, 3-0, last weekend did not change their position on the table.

According to the LA Galaxy team site, "the club has signed defender Chris Rindov to a Short-Term Agreement from MLS NEXT Pro affiliate Ventura County FC ahead of the 2025 MLS Regular Season match against Inter Miami CF." That was back on August 16th, 2025.

What prompted the call-up by the LA Galaxy?

The LA Galaxy's team site continued to add that "Rindov signed with VCFC in 2025 after spending two seasons with Sporting Kansas City (2023-24), where he logged one career appearance. The Silver Spring, Md., native recorded one goal and one assist in 48 matches played (43 starts) across all competitions for Sporting Kansas City II (2023-24)."

Furthermore, "Rindov, 23, has recorded one goal in 21 appearances (21 starts) across all competitions for Ventura County FC during the 2025 campaign."

The young defender is among great company like Harbor Miller, who scored his first-ever MLS career goal against the Rapids. The Los Angeles Galaxy Academy product found the back of the net inside the game's first ten minutes, and his team never looked back.

Rindov was listed for the LA Galaxy as a potential sub in their MLS regular-season match against Inter Miami. However, the new defender never checked into the game in the 3-1 loss.

Against Colorado, Rindov got to start on the back line of the defense for Vanney's 4-2-3-1 formation. The Ventura County FC call-up played center back on the right side next veteran Miki Yamane. The Japanese native crushed it for the LA Galaxy with two early assists in the game.

With combinations of young players and established veterans, the Los Angeles Galaxy seem to be clicking finally at the right time. They may not be able to qualify for the 2025 MLS Western Conference Playoffs, but they still have a chance to capture this year's Leagues Cup title.

The LA Galaxy will host the Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday night in the tournament. The winner plays the victor between Inter Miami and Orlando City SC, with the two losers squaring off in the Third-Place Match.
