It’s a really interesting Chelsea team for tonight’s game against Brentford.
Enzo Maresca has been forced to make a number of changes, some because of injury and some because of fatigue from international duty.
Kieran Gill’s Tweet about Estevao Willian.
We didn’t expect to see Estevao Willian in the team because he played for Brazil and arrived back late. But he’s not even on the bench. That did raise some eyebrows, but according to journalists at the game like Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail, it’s because the teenage sensation has picked up an illness, so isn’t risked.
That depletes Maresca’s options even further – although Cole Palmer is fit enough to come back to the bench, we’re sure the manager would rather not risk him if possible.
Although Estevao and a number of others are out, it does create a chance for new additions to come in. Facundo Buonanotte only signed on deadline day on loan, but here he is starting in the very first game back.
From what we hear, he scored 3 goals in a training game this week, which will have gone a long way to persuading Maresca that he’s ready to play right away.
It’s quite the rise for him – last season he was loaned out to Leicester and wasn’t even a regular for them as they were relegated. Now he will be playing number 10 for a Chelsea team looking to try and compete to win the league.
He has a huge chance today to show what he can do, and we hope he takes it. Palmer is going to need a lot of rests this season, especially with this groin problem he’s been managing, and Buonanotte is a natural fit in behind the striker.
