A new report in the Italian press suggests Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel might not join Inter Milan after all.

Ivan Provedel Has Been Tipped to Leave Lazio

The 32-year-old was the Biancocelesti’s first choice in goal over the past four years, but both parties agreed to part ways this summer. The club is keen to cash in on the Friulian custodian who only has one year left on his contract, and the latter is ready to depart after losing his biggest sponsor at Formello following Maurizio Sarri’s departure.

Inter Milan Ready to Accommodate Provedel

Last month, Provedel’s transfer to Inter was described as an almost done deal. The goalkeeper had even agreed to lower his salary to join his childhood club, and it was said that Lazio accepted a €3 million offer from the reigning Italian champions. And yet, several weeks have passed, and there hasn’t been any concrete movement on this front.

Lazio & Inter Have Yet to Strike a Deal

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile never accepted Inter’s €3 million, but instead held on to their original valuation of €4-5 million. The Roman newspaper insists Provedel’s move is no longer certain at this stage.

What’s Next?

While the negotiations may have hit a snag, one would imagine that the parties will eventually find a solution, as all of them have an interest in pushing the deal through, especially with the difference in valuation being merely €1 million or so.

Lazio Made Post-Provedel Plans

Lazio are already preparing for life without Provedel. Gennaro Gattuso is ready to crown the returning Christos Mandas as his new No.1, with Edoardo Motta as his back-up. Alessio Furlanetto could be out for a while after undergoing ACL surgery on Wednesday, so Davide Renzetti could be promoted to the first team to cap off the department.
