Corinthians have travelled to the United States for the Teal Rising Cup during the international window, but forward Jhonson was not included after also missing the team’s last two Brasileirão fixtures.
Head coach Emily Lima named 19 players for the friendly tournament organised by Kansas City Current, comprising two goalkeepers, three full backs, three centre backs, seven midfielders and four forwards. The club did not give a reason for Jhonson’s omission. According to Meu Timao, the decision for this trip is again a technical choice by the staff.
Only the eight players on international duty and three injured were initially expected to be absent.
In the penultimate league match, a 3-1 win away to Botafogo, the forward did not feature due to illness and a suspected febrile syndrome before travel. Her absence in the subsequent heavy win over Red Bull Bragantino was down to a technical decision.
Corinthians face Kansas City Current in the semi final on 9 April at 22:00 Brasília time. The final and third place match are on 12 April, with possible opponents Palmeiras or América of Mexico.
This is their second appearance at the Teal Rising Cup, after the 2025 edition when they beat Chicago Stars 1-0 in the semi final then lost 2-1 to the hosts in the final.
