Barcelona star Lamine Yamal will play no part in the club’s upcoming Champions League showdown with Slavia Praha.

This comes with the 18-year-old having been omitted from Hansi Flick’s travelling squad for the fixture.

But why?

Lamine for his part featured from the off in Barcelona’s prior outing on the continent, a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in early December.

Along the way, however, the Spanish international was shown a yellow card.

His third of the Champions League campaign to date, this means that Lamine has been slapped with a one-match suspension, set to be served later this evening in Czechia.

With Ferran Torres also unavailable to face Slavia owing to an injury setback, the door has been opened for some of Barca’s standout young talent to secure a place in the club’s latest senior squad.

Attacking starlets Juan Hernández and Dani Rodríguez have both been called up by Hansi Flick, no doubt hopeful of securing rare minutes at first-team level on Wednesday.
