Liam Rosenior was pretty tense in his press conference today. The lightness and excitement has gone, and he spoke quietly and without his usual conviction.
You can understand why – he’s on a terrible run of results, and faces really tough games to end the season. Perhaps it was no surprise then, given the pressure he’s under, that he snapped back at a question about whether the players really “believe” they can pull off a run of results and finish in the Champions League places.
“Of course they still believe, of course we still believe. I don’t know why you would ask that question, I don’t know why you would.”
The problem is that by getting shirty at a question like that, you only serve to validate it. To question why the question is being asked… you only have to watch the recent performances from the team and individual players to see why you’re being asked that, Liam.
The best news from the press conference was that Levi Colwill is playing minutes for the Under-21s tomorrow, meaning he’s on course to feature for the first team this season.
Rosenior also gave a solid update on two of the injured players we’re hoping to get back this weekend – Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah.
