The battle for the Real Madrid presidency is beginning to enter a decisive phase, and one of the candidates has once again managed to generate intrigue without revealing too much.
Enrique Riquelme, who is challenging Florentino Perez in the upcoming election process, recently spoke at length about his candidacy and the direction he would like to take the club.
While he addressed several issues surrounding the campaign, he remained notably cautious when discussing the sporting side of his project.
That reluctance to reveal details has only increased curiosity among supporters eager to learn what changes could be made if there is a change in leadership at the Santiago Bernabéu.
During his latest media appearance, Riquelme was asked directly about potential transfer targets and whether he had already made contact with players ahead of a possible presidential victory.
One of the most eye-catching moments came when the conversation turned towards Barcelona.

After being asked whether he had spoken with any Barcelona player regarding a future move to Real Madrid, Riquelme chose not to give a clear answer.
Following a brief pause, he responded, “I prefer to talk from Saturday. I will answer that question.”
The answer immediately fuelled speculation about what announcements could be coming in the days ahead.
Riquelme also suggested that supporters may not have to wait long before learning more about the players he has identified as part of his sporting project.
When discussing potential arrivals, he again pointed towards the weekend as the key moment.
“This Saturday, I’d like to be able to reveal some names of exciting players who would play for Real Madrid if I were president.”

So far, the presidential race has largely centred around contrasting visions rather than transfer plans.
Florentino Perez has built his campaign around stability, success and the achievements Real Madrid have enjoyed during his time in charge.
Riquelme, meanwhile, has attempted to present himself as a candidate focused on the future.
However, as election day approaches, football matters are likely to become increasingly important and in that context, one name that continues to surface in discussions surrounding Riquelme’s project is Rodri.
The Manchester City and Spain midfielder has frequently been linked with the candidate’s plans, although no official confirmation has been provided.
