An early insight into the status of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham for the club’s upcoming meeting with Athletic Club has this evening been provided.

This comes, for those who may have missed it, after Bellingham was forced into a premature departure from Real’s clash with Getafe.

En route to a 2-0 Blancos victory, the England international played a starring role, notching both a goal and an assist.

With 45 minutes on the clock, however, Bellingham was surprisingly hooked from proceedings.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at the Santiago Bernabéu, Carlo Ancelotti pointed towards a neck issue as having been behind the 21-year-old’s withdrawal:

“Jude Bellingham? He has had a problem in his neck. He will recover in a couple of days.”
