Will Jurgen Klopp ever coach again? His answer is clear
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted he has no desire to return to coaching, more than year after taking up his role as Head of Global Football at Red Bull’s multi-club group.
Klopp was present in the stands as RB Leipzig suffered heavy 5 - 1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday but the German made it clear that the result did not reignite any urge to return to the dugout.
“I know that I can work as a coach but that doesn’t mean I have to be coach for the rest of my life.. I want to do something different” Klopp told The New York Times & The Athletic.
The 56 year old explained that his move into Red Bull’s football structure came after extensive discussions and has given him renewed sense of balance.
“Red Bull gave me an opportunity after a lot of coordination between us. Right now.. I feel completely satisfied with this job and I don’t want to be anywhere else” he added.
Klopp was also asked about speculation linking him with Real Madrid following the reported dismissal of Xabi Alonso. His response was firm.
“Everything you hear is just media noise” he said.
The former Borussia Dortmund & Liverpool coach even referenced Madrid’s history to underline his point.
“Real Madrid once sacked Jupp Heynckes after he won the Champions League. I don’t know what that says about the club” Klopp concluded.
Currently, Klopp is content to lead football from the top of the administrative pyramid rather than working from the touchline and the idea of imminent return to professional coaching is still completely out of his mind.
