Ibrahim Mbaye looks set to become one of the most closely watched young players heading into the 2026 summer transfer window, with growing signs that his time at Paris Saint-Germain could be coming to an early turning point. The 18-year-old winger, who represents Senegal internationally while also holding French nationality, has struggled for consistent playing time in recent weeks.

Sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that Premier League clubs are stepping up interest in signing him and Liverpool are leading the race for him.

The youngster has just played 890 minutes of football in Ligue 1 this season.

Mbaye has talent but opportunities have been limited

For a player still in the early stages of his career, regular minutes are essential, and the competition for places at PSG, one of Europe’s most star-studded squads, has made that difficult to secure.

Despite his young age, Mbaye has already shown glimpses of his potential on both the club and international stage.

With three goals in ten appearances for Senegal, he has demonstrated the kind of confidence and composure that scouts look for in emerging attacking players.

At PSG, however, the path has been more complicated. His contract with PSG runs until June 2028, giving the club some leverage, yet the lack of regular minutes has left the player increasingly open to exploring new opportunities.

Liverpool among Premier League clubs interested in him

Interest from the Premier League appears to be growing rapidly. Liverpool are among the clubs closely evaluating Mbaye’s situation.

With Liverpool continuing to refresh their forward line, adding a young, high-upside winger could fit their long-term strategy.

Other English clubs are also keeping tabs. Newcastle United and Aston Villa are believed to be considering more serious approaches, while Manchester City, West Ham United, and Brighton & Hove Albion have all been mentioned as observers.

From PSG’s perspective, the situation is delicate. With Mbaye’s estimated market value around €30 million and a relatively modest salary for a player of his potential, selling him could generate funds while reducing squad congestion.

Yet losing a promising talent so early also carries risk, especially if he flourishes elsewhere.
