Florian Wirtz has said Liverpool must stay together in difficult moments at Paris Saint-Germain tonight.
Arne Slot's struggling side face the European champions at the Parc des Princes this evening, in the first leg of theirChampions League quarter-final.
Liverpool lost 4-0 at Manchester City at the weekend, the latest low point in a season of inconsistent results.
Questions have been asked about the Reds, who have lost 15 games across all competitions this season. The defeat at Manchester City was the seventh time this season that Liverpool have conceded three or more goals in a game.
Wirtz has admitted that the club's season has been a disappointment, but insists Liverpool can still achieve success in Europe. He acknowledged the size of the task at PSG and said Liverpool must 'stick together' in the bad moments to progress.
"We wanted it to be better but there's still something to play for,"Wirtz said to the media ahead of the game.
"We need tomorrow 90 minutes full energy and full commitment, otherwise we will have no chance. We need 90 minutes of being together as a team.
"Also in difficult moments if we concede, we have to stay together and have belief that we can win this game. And over everything is that we still have a second game at home, where we want for sure to have a good result.
"We have to stick together and also in the bad moments. I think on the weekend we tried too much, I think, at one point, so we were a little bit wild on the pitch. We have to fix that for the next game."
Wirtz added that the club'sChampions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain is the stage all players aspire to be on. The German said PSG will provide the perfect benchmark for where Liverpool are at.
"These are the games you want to play as a player and I dreamt of when I came to this club.
"It's a very big competition. Champions League games are always special. We try to enjoy it, to come as far as possible and hopefully come through this round now.
"We know it's difficult because the best teams in the world are playing Champions League. It's good to play against these teams and see where you are."
