Newcastle United will welcome Fulham at St. James’ Park this Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies suffered a tough 1-0 loss away at Sunderland recently, so they would be eager to bounce back with a victory versus the Cottagers in midweek.

Eddie Howe will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a handful of changes to his first team for this cup game. Yoanne Wissa, Fabian Schar and Joelinton could all play from the start of this clash.

Defence

Aaron Ramsdale will feature in between the sticks for the Magpies after conceding one goal in his last appearance. Malick Thiaw will function alongside Fabian Schar at the centre of the Newcastle backline as they hope to keep things solid on the defensive end of the field.

Tino Livramento will try to catch the eye as the right-back, while Lewis Hall hopes to prove his worth on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to go forward and join in on the attack at every chance they can get.

Alex Murphy will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Lewis Miley, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton will make up Newcastle’s midfield as they look to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park and engineer some inviting chances in the final third.

Joe Willock will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Harvey Barnes will try to prove his worth on the left flank, while Jacob Murphy hopes to impress on the right wing. Both of them will try to get in behind the opponent’s backline at every chance they can get.

Yoane Wissa will lead the charge for the Tyneside club up top. He would be eager to find some form by getting his name on the scoresheet against Fulham in midweek.

Nick Woltemade and Anthony Gordon will be rested on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
