With the table tight, Brasileirão Sub-17 round 8 starts Tuesday

The eighth round of the Brasileirão U-17 begins this Tuesday (14) with nine matchups. The opening clash will be between Palmeiras and Flamengo at 11 a.m. at Nubank Parque in São Paulo. All the other matches that day will kick off at 3 p.m. The round comes to an end on Wednesday (15) with the match between Vasco da Gama and Corinthians.

The competition is marked by a great deal of balance in the standings. The 20 participating teams are trying to stay in the G-8, the qualification zone for the second phase. At the moment, Palmeiras, Fluminense, Fortaleza, Corinthians, Cruzeiro, América-MG, Athletico-PR, and Bahia occupy the top eight spots.

Red Bull Bragantino, Santos, Grêmio, Vasco da Gama, Juventude, São Paulo, Internacional, and Botafogo remain in the race to enter the qualification zone and could move up depending on the results of the eighth round.

Atlético-MG and Flamengo are on the outside looking in, but still have a chance to recover in the tournament. The situation is a bit more complicated for Vitória, in 19th place with 3 points, and Atlético-GO, in 20th place with no points, but the teams remain firmly in contention considering there are still 12 rounds left before the end of the first phase.
