Kicker reports that VfL Wolfsburg are close to wrapping up a loan deal for Lyon right back Saël Kumbedi. The 20-year-old is currently undergoing his medical at his new Bundesliga club. Kumbedi will join Wolfsburg on loan from the Ligue 1 outfit with a €1m loan fee and a €6m purchase option attached.

Wolfsburg have thus procured their desired back-up option for right back Kilian Fischer. Kicker notes that a move for Coventry City’s Milan van Ewijk is now officially off the table for Germany’s green company team. Wolfsburg did not meet the EFL championship side’s €10m transfer fee demand.

There still may be another French defender arriving in the Lower Saxon Autostadt soon. Kicker reports that Wolfsburg wish to acquire another flexible player who can serve at both right back and in central defense. FC Metz’s Sadibou Sané fits this requirement.

Following a serious injury to starting centre-back Denis Vavro, Wolfsburg have been forced to rely upon German journeyman Moritz Jenz. The latest from Kicker holds that Jenz continues to push for a transfer.

The club would also prefer to loan out young prospect David Odogu rather than throw the 19-year-old into the fray immediately. Sadibou is a €5m-valued player whom die Wölfe could either loan or purchase outright.
