VfL Wolfsburg have secured the signing of Robert Glatzel from Hamburger SV, ending the striker's highly successful spell in Hamburg.
The 32-year-old leaves HSV as the club's record goalscorer in the 2. Bundesliga era and one of the most influential players of recent years.
Glatzel joined HSV from Cardiff City in 2021 and went on to score 84 goals and provide 22 assists in 150 competitive appearances for the club. His goals played a crucial role in Hamburg's long-awaited return to the Bundesliga and cemented his status as a fan favourite.
The striker now joins an ambitious Wolfsburg side determined to secure an immediate return to the Bundesliga following relegation. Reports suggest the transfer fee is around €1.5 million, with Glatzel signing a two-year contract.
Wolfsburg have already signes a few players, namely Fabian Reese and Hauke Wahl, who are proven players and who are able to take on the fight for promotion in the 2. Bundesliga. A clever strategy - or a risky get-together of multiple stars? That remains to be seen.
