Dan Neil is attracting interest ahead of the summer window. The Sunderland academy graduate is due to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Football League World reports that Wolves are tracking the 24-year-old as they prepare for life back in the Championship. Reports also link Coventry City with interest, while Ipswich Town are interested in a permanent deal after his loan at Portman Road.
Neil joined Ipswich on loan in January 2026 and helped them win promotion back to the Premier League. It marked his third career promotion, having previously been part of Sunderland’s rise from League One to the top flight.
Born in South Shields and raised a Sunderland supporter, Neil progressed through the Black Cats’ academy after time with Hebburn Town Juniors.
He made his senior debut for Sunderland in the EFL Trophy in November 2018 as a late substitute. His first professional goal arrived in September 2021 in a 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley, and he was named EFL Young Player of the Month for December 2021.
That breakthrough prompted links with Burnley and Aston Villa, though he stayed on Wearside.
