Wolves’ camp in Portugal has underlined Cesar Peixoto’s emphasis on width, with sessions built around flank play and attacking patterns. According to ExpressAndStar.com, pre-season is vital as he beds in with a squad still needing work and the club are likely to explore further wide options.

New £7.7million signing Rafiki Said, 26, has mostly worked from the left, going inside or to the byline with pace and trickery. Two-footed, he found the side-netting in a small-sided game and later struck the post from distance, and he could be dangerous in 2026/27 as he settles.

Teenager Mateus Mane has been used on both flanks and as a number 10. Sharper and stronger after bulking up, the 18-year-old could be a real asset if Wolves keep him.

With Peixoto likely to use a back four, Rodrigo Gomes has operated higher up, frequently from the right. His energy and technique stand out, though his decision-making still needs polish.

Fer Lopez is similarly versatile but has featured regularly as a number 10. The 22-year-old looks happier after last season’s loan to Celta Vigo, and it is understood Peixoto rates him and is prepared to use him in the Championship if he handles the physical test.

Tom Edozie, who struck a late equaliser against Arsenal on his Premier League debut in February, has made a solid start and his directness appeals. Enso Gonzalez, 21, has pace but some hesitancy after his 2024 knee injury, and a loan may be needed for minutes.
