Wolves extend winning streak

Wolves have mathematically secured their Premier League status after Pablo Sarabia’s brilliant free-kick sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The win also extended Wolves’ top-flight winning streak to five consecutive matches — a run they haven’t achieved since 1970.

During this impressive stretch, they’ve seen off Southampton, West Ham, Ipswich Town, Tottenham, and now Manchester United.

No team in the Premier League is on a longer run at the moment. Only Aston Villa have matched that form, with both sides currently enjoying five-game winning streaks.

The result also saw Wolves complete a league double over Manchester United for the first time since the 1979/80 season.

The victory lifts Vítor Pereira’s side to 15th in the table, level on points with 14th-placed United.

Pereira came in with the job of keeping Wolves up, and he’s absolutely delivered in his first go at English football. The Portuguese boss has now racked up nine wins from 17 Premier League games – not a bad return at all, with a win rate of 56.8%.
