Wolves have reached a verbal agreement to sign Kieran Trippier on a two-year deal with an option of a third, with the 35-year-old set to be their first summer addition in a major rebuild.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, head coach Rob Edwards has led talks amid competition from clubs in England and overseas, including some Premier League interest.
Trippier is a free agent after his final season at Newcastle United, and will have a medical once he returns from his post-season holiday. Supporters have largely welcomed the move.
The agreement follows Wolves tying Andre to a new contract until 2030. The Brazilian has committed to the Championship campaign. The club want experience and leadership as they target a Championship promotion push, qualities Trippier brings.
Wolves are also exploring a return for striker Raul Jimenez as they seek to rebalance the squad. Right-back Jackson Tchatchoua is expected to depart after a difficult year following his £10 million move.
Joao Gomes is in talks to join Atletico Madrid, while further exits are anticipated after a grim top-flight season.
Trippier came through Manchester City, then impressed at Burnley after loans, before four years at Spurs earned his England debut. He won La Liga with Atletico Madrid in 2020/21 and the Carabao Cup with Newcastle in 2024/25. He collected 54 England caps from 2017 to 2024 and scored a free-kick against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
