According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves plan to keep Pedro Lima in their Championship squad despite Atletico Mineiro's loan interest.
Atletico Mineiro want a season-long loan, potentially with an option to buy. Wolves intend to keep the 19-year-old at Molineux to compete with new signing Kieran Trippier, so approaches are likely to be rebuffed.
Lima has made 16 appearances since an £8.5 million move from Sport Recife two years ago. He spent the first half of last season at Porto without a first-team outing.
Wolves believe he can still establish himself in English football and see Trippier’s experience as beneficial to his development. New boss Cesar Peixoto will assess the squad in pre-season, and right-back is not viewed as a recruitment priority.
Significant changes are expected, with a new No.1 goalkeeper high on the agenda. Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone are likely to depart. Trabzonspor are the latest suitors for Sa, though his future is unlikely to be settled until after the World Cup.
Wolves have brought their Real Sociedad friendly at Walsall’s Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium forward by 72 hours to Saturday, July 25, 5pm, from Tuesday, July 28.
Villa were due to face Sociedad on that date, but their revised Asia tour has prompted a switch. Wolves also visit Maidenhead United on Wednesday, July 22, then SC Heerenveen on Saturday, August 1 at 3pm. Players not at the World Cup are due back in early July.
