Wolves have lacked a like-for-like Pedro Neto successor since his 2024 exit, and Rob Edwards' side need pace out wide. They want to strengthen in January, with planning also mindful of a possible Championship campaign next summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Wolves are showing the strongest interest in versatile Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, with Brentford, Leeds and West Ham also in the mix. The 20-year-old has featured in the Champions League and Europa League, and with a contract to 2029, the report says a sizeable fee could be required.

Neto departed in the summer of 2024 and is now impressing at Chelsea. Carlos Forbs arrived on loan to fill the gap but struggled, and he is now at Club Brugge.

Under Vitor Pereira, Wolves moved away from wingers. Edwards’ arrival has underlined the lack of a dynamic wide option willing to carry the ball and beat a man, leaving strikers isolated up front.

At 20, Fernandez-Pardo would not need to be included in the first-team roster, easing non-homegrown considerations. With Jhon Arias linked with a move away, recruiting another winger appears sensible.

Fernandez-Pardo’s profile, heavy on dribbles and forward carries, mirrors much of Neto’s. If he is open to the switch, even with relegation a stark possibility, it could prove a shrewd addition, and his ability to play across the frontline adds appeal.
