Six days after sacking Vitor Pereira, Premier League club Wolves have sorted themselves a new manager.

Middlesbrough releasing an official statement (see below) saying that Rob Edwards is on his way to Molineux.

Boro clearly not happy that after only 14 Championship games in charge, Edwards has made clear he is determined to join Wolves.

In the crazy world of Premier League managers, Wolves are appointing somebody who ‘mutually’ decided with the club to leave Luton in January (2025) when 20th in the Championship and sinking like a stone towards League One.

Middlesbrough then giving Rob Edwards a decent level job despite what had happened with Luton, then after only 15 league games, with only two wins in the most recent eight Championship matches, now Edwards getting a Premier League post.

To then top it all off, with Rob Edwards stood down as he sorts his Wolves appointment, in his absence Middlesbrough with a massive home victory over Birmingham that takes then second top.

How ironic if Middlesbrough were to replace Wolves in the Premier League at the end of the season…

Middlesbrough official statement – 8 November 2025:

‘Middlesbrough Football Club have, subject to the completion of an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, given head coach Rob Edwards permission to speak to Wolves. We initially rejected an approach from Wolves on the basis that Rob signed a three-year contract with MFC less than six months ago.

Following discussions with Rob we were disappointed to learn that he wanted to speak with Wolves regarding their head coach vacancy. We have now agreed terms with Wolves, subject to completion of the relevant paperwork.
