Wolves face Brentford on Saturday afternoon in search of a first Premier League win, and the Premier League’s referee appointment leaves little cause for grievance.

Molineux.news reports that Matthew Donohue will take charge of Wolves vs Brentford, his first time overseeing a Wolves fixture.

Defeat to Arsenal stung for its drama and for handing Wolves two unwanted records. It is over eight months since their last league win, though that display offered hope and made a win over Brentford feel feasible.

This will be just his third Premier League match, so inexperience could be a concern. Wolves will hope the contest is decided by the players rather than the officials.

He has refereed Brentford once, in May 2024, and that game included two contentious decisions that went Brentford’s way. Wolves will hope similar calls do not fall for Brentford this weekend.

Dominic Solanke had efforts chalked off for offside and for handball, and one move was halted when a foul was whistled before he scored.

Wolves are only just back from a wrong decision going against them, with Bukayo Saka in an offside position directly leading to Arsenal’s goal. The PGMOL’s explanation has provided little comfort.

Additionally, Edwards will be without Emmanuel Agbadou, and has several options to cover the Ivorian’s absence.
