Kick-off in Mexico v Ecuador in the 2026 World Cup last 32 at the Azteca has been delayed because of a thunderstorm.

According to L'Équipe, the tie had been due to start at three am in France, but will begin later after bad weather, with a stadium announcement made.

This follows France’s 3-0 win over Iraq on 22 June, which was halted for several hours due to a storm.

Around 18:15 local time, a message on the Azteca’s giant screen informed supporters that the match was delayed.

Kick-off has been pushed back by at least 30 minutes, and the players had not come out to warm up.
