Mondial 2026 (Q) / RD Congo vs Sénégal
The official lineups for the highly anticipated DR Congo vs Senegal clash have been revealed. Both head coaches have announced their starting elevens for this early final at the Stade des Martyrs on Tuesday, September 8. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm GMT in Kinshasa for this top-of-the-table Group B showdown.
Sébastien Desabre has opted for a 4-3-3 formation with a few surprises in his Congolese lineup. The French manager puts his faith in Bertaud in goal, shielded by a back four of Kayembe, Batubinsika, Mbemba, and Wan-Bissaka. The midfield will be orchestrated by the trio of Kayembe, Moutoussamy, and Sadiki. Up front, the Leopards unveil a brand-new attacking trio with Wissa, Bakambu, and Mbuku.
Pape Thiaw has sprung a minor surprise by leaving Pape Matar Sarr on the bench. The Tottenham midfielder, who scored against Sudan in the previous matchday, makes way for an all-new trio. Pape Gueye, Lamine Camara, and Idrissa Gana Gueye will marshal the Lions’ midfield. The Senegalese defense is anchored by Krépin Diatta and El Hadji Malick Diouf on the flanks. In the heart of defense, Abdoulaye Seck partners Kalidou Koulibaly, filling in for the injured Moussa Niakhaté, who is sidelined with a knee injury. Edouard Mendy stands guard between the posts for Senegal.
