World Cup 2026 qualifiers / Algeria – "The coach insists on ...": Ibrahim Maza spills the beans

Unsurprisingly called up for the October training camp, Ibrahim Maza is steadily confirming his status as one of Algeria’s brightest football prospects. Despite limited playing time with Bayer Leverkusen, the club he joined this summer, the young midfielder continues to enjoy the full confidence of Vladimir Petkovic, who sees him as a future cornerstone of the national team.

Currently preparing at the Sidi Moussa Technical Center, Maza is relishing every moment with the Fennecs:

"Training with the national team is something very special for me. It’s always intense, we give it our all. The coach insists on tactics, pressing, and our approach to attacking," he said, clearly determined to make a lasting impact.

Algeria will face Somalia on October 9 at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran, with kickoff at 5pm (Algerian time), as part of the 9th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Should Petkovic’s men claim victory, they would officially secure their ticket for the global showpiece set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
