Leading into the final two games of the tournament, England will need to rely once again on their two stars who both share 6 goals a piece: former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham and current Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.
Against Norway, it was Bellingham who netted a brace to drag England through after extra-time. However, for England, Kane's fellow Bundesliga star Jarell Quansah remains suspended for a red card he got in the last 16 against Mexico.
For Argentina, it was also extra time which took them through to the semi-finals as they beat Switzerland 3-1 as Switzerland and former Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Breel Embolo got a yellow card.
As for the attacking midfield, the trio of Alexis MacAllister, Rodrigo de Paul and Enzo Fernandez has remained unchanged since Bayer 04 star Exequiel Palacios played his only game against Jordan in the final group match for the World cup holders.
Overall, this game is tightly balanced with both teams having squeezed through a number of games with one goal leads within the knockout stages. Both teams have also shipped a number of goals and have focused on outscoring opponents.
For England's captain Harry Kane, he can break into the top three all-time goalscorers at the World Cup with a brace against Argentina albeit with this being a mammoth task.
Kane, England's talisman and key player, is looking to score his first ever goal in a World Cup semi final having failed to do so in 2018.
Declan Rice had a stomach bug for England and came off early against Norway but should be fit for the Argentina tie. Jarell Quansah remains the only suspended England player for the semis with Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Marc Guehi and Nico O'Reilly all avoiding a card against Norway.
For Argentina, there are no injury concerns but there is an expectation that quarter final bagsman Julian Alvarez will play against England in a bid to made it back to back World Cup semi final goals following on from scoring twice in 2022 versus Croatia.
