Several of England’s World Cup squad could move clubs this summer

Thomas Tuchel has said that England players will be allowed to leave the Three Lions’ World Cup camp in order to complete transfers this summer.

A number of the travelling squad to the upcoming tournament have been linked with moves to different clubs in the close-season window.

One of those at the fore is Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, who has been the subject of a reported bid by Manchester City.

City saw their offer rejected by the Europa League semi-finalists, who are believed to be after a fee similar to what West Ham received from Arsenal for Declan Rice back in 2023, around £100million.

"It's about common sense,” Tuchel said ahead of the Three Lions’ first pre-tournament friendly against New Zealand.

“I would not like it the day before a match, or on a matchday, that's the policy. Maybe two days before too, but let's see.

"But everything else if it's done privately, efficiently and quietly then we are always happy to help.

"It helps to have clarity around any player, the best thing we can have is that so if anyone has a chance to complete a change of club we will not stand in their way.

"But it has to align, of course, with our schedule and our goals which is to be focused and prepared for matches.

"No player has approached me yet but our doctor is ready to do any medicals!"

England are set to commence their World Cup campaign in Canada, Mexico and the United States the week after next, but first, they have two warm-up matches against the Kiwis and then Costa Rica before taking on Croatia in their opener on June 17.

Tuchel’s men then face Ghana and Panama in their remaining group games later this month.
