Chelsea are currently searching for a new head coach having sacked Liam Rosenior last month , less than four months after appointing him.

Rosenior became the second head coach to depart Stamford Bridge this season, following  Enzo Maresca’s exit in January.

Wayne Rooney tells Chelsea to bring back Claude Makelele

Chelsea are expected to make progress with their next coach after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley.

The Blues are expected to agree a deal with Xabi Alonso, although nothing has been finalised with the Spaniard yet.

It’s been another chaotic season both on and off the pitch, and unless Chelsea win the FA Cup they will seemingly miss out on European football completely next season.

Chelsea more than anything need stability, and Rooney feels they could benefit from bringing Makelele back to the club.

“I played a charity game last year and Claude Makelele was there, I absolutely loved it,” he told The Wayne Rooney Show.

“It was the first time I’ve been in his company and we sat down after the game and had a glass of wine, I absolutely loved him.

“I was thinking at the time, someone with his mentality and mindset, having him around the place would be great for Chelsea.”

James hasn’t started a game since March, but played his first minutes since then as a second half substitute against Liverpool last weekend.

Depending on what formation Chelsea deploy, James could line up as a right back or once again find himself in midfield.
