According to Nice-Matin, Wout Faes has joined Monaco on Tuesday 13 January 2026. The Leicester centre-back, 27, has arrived in the Principality and met his new team-mates, but administrative formalities must be settled before he can train at La Turbie.

The Belgium international since 2022 has 28 caps and has played in four countries, including stints in the Netherlands and France. He came through Anderlecht, then spent loans at Heerenveen and Excelsior Rotterdam before two seasons with Ostende.

He moved to Reims in 2020, making 77 appearances, including a loan back to Ostende, then joined Leicester in 2022. With the Foxes now in the Championship, he has played 135 times and scored six goals.

This season he has featured in 16 matches but has not played since 29 November. He was likely seeking more game time, and Monaco could offer it given a shortage of centre-backs through injuries and suspension.

For Friday’s 19:00 visit of Lorient, Sébastien Pocognoli has only Eric Dier available, with Mohammed Salisu and Christian Mawissa injured and Thilo Kehrer suspended. The coach would like to involve Faes, although his eligibility remains to be confirmed.
