Wrexham's 2-2 comeback at West Brom underlined how far they have travelled since August's chastening first meeting.
NY Times notes that their first home game in the second tier for 43 years brought a narrow defeat that felt like a gulf, and travelling fans mocked watching co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.
Here, Wrexham were poor before the break. George Dobson diverted Isaac Price's free kick past Arthur Okonkwo, then Issa Kabore conceded a penalty for grappling Jayson Molumby, which Josh Maja converted.
Josh Windass and Dobson levelled it, and the draw returned Wrexham to the play-off places. It only slightly eased West Brom's relegation worries, five years to the day since a 5-2 win over Chelsea, and set up Tuesday's meeting with Southampton after their FA Cup quarter-final.
Phil Parkinson urged perspective, saying his side are in the top six while West Brom are towards the bottom, and that the aim is to give everything over the final six games. Wrexham have recovered 22 points from losing positions, only Watford, on 26, have more.
The campaign has been reshaped by recruitment. Callum Doyle, Kabore, Dominic Hyam and Ben Sheaf are now mainstays, with Ollie Rathbone, Sam Smith and George Thomason stepping up, while Tom O’Connor, Eoghan O’Connell, Jacob Mendy, Elliot Lee and Ryan Hardie moved on.
Midfielder O’Brien kept the half-time message private but praised the belief behind the revival, and said Dobson later admitted he had not touched the equaliser initially credited to him.
