West Ham stun Chelsea with late equaliser

Scorers: Hamano 16', Beever-Jones 21'; Martinez 42', 90+1'

Chelsea's lead at the top of the WSL was cut to six points after West Ham stunned them with a late equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw at Kingsmeadow.

The Blues flew out of the blocks and struck twice in the opening 21 minutes with a quickfire double.

Maika Hamano got the first in the 16th minute, swiveling and striking the ball low and hard past Kinga Szemik. Aggie Beever-Jones doubled their lead shortly after with a neat finish from inside the box.

Shekiera Martinez gave the Irons some hope just before the break with a fine finish after taking the ball down inside the box and smashing past Hannah Hampton.

Despite Chelsea dominating possession, West Ham stayed in the game and struck in added time, with Martinez scoring again with a header to seal a memorable point.

Sonia Bompastor's side's remain heavy favourites to win the title with four games left, but the chasing pack have been given a small bit of hope.

Mead and Russo shine in Arsenal win

Scorers: Mead 14', Russo 26', Swaby OG 77', Mead 90+1'

Arsenal cruised past Crystal Palace 4-0 to keep the pace with Chelsea at the top end of the table.

Beth Mead opened the scoring for Arsenal with her 50th goal for the club, striking a cross from Chloe Kelly on the volley.

Alessia Russo then doubled the Gunners' lead after their press forced an error from the host's backline, allowing her to latch onto a loose ball in the box and send it beyond Palace goalkeeper Shae Yañez.

Kelly was the provider in the second half once again as her effort was deflected in by Allyson Swaby for the third, then Mead bagged her brace for the fourth in stoppage time.

Arsenal retain their place in second, just behind Chelsea, while Palace remain rooted at the bottom of the standings.

Liverpool stunned by Villa

Scorers: Höbinger 57', Hanson 68', Clark OG 87'

Aston Villa picked up their first win since December as they came from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1.

Liverpool had the best chance of the first half when Gemma Bonner rose above everyone in the box to head a free kick goalward, but Villa goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo was able to palm it away with an outstretched arm.

The hosts finally edged in front after the break when a miscommunication at the back for Villa allowed Ceri Holland to break through on goal, and after being brought down by D'Angelo, Marie Höbinger calmly converted the resulting penalty.

Villa substitute Kirsty Hanson then made an immediate impact as Missy Bo Kearns picked out her run, allowing her to round the goalkeeper and fire into an empty net to level the scoreline.

Liverpool's were far less fortunate with their substitutions as defender Jenna Clark came on, only to turn an effort from Ebony Salmon into her own net.

It's a huge three points in the battle to avoid the drop as Villa are now four points clear of Palace.

Spurs fight back against the Foxes

Scorers: Rybrink OG 55', Spence 62'

Tottenham fought back after going behind to clinch a 1-1 draw against Leicester City.

There was little to separate the two teams in the first half, though Spurs enjoyed more possession and registered three attempts on target compared to Leicester City's one.

However, it was the Foxes who took the lead in the second half as Hannah Cain's effort was parried into Spurs defender Josefine Rybrink, who then turned it into her own net.

Their lead was short-lived as the visitors put themselves back on level terms just minutes later courtesy of Drew Spence.

Spurs stay ninth in the table, while the Foxes remain in 10th.

Man City clinch narrow victory at Brighton

Scorers: Casparij 37', Miedema 90', Rule 90+2'

After their Champions League heartbreak midweek, Manchester City delivered a hard-fought performance to secure a narrow 2-1 win over Brighton.

Despite Brighton dominating the early stages, Kerstin Casparij finally opened her WSL goalscoring account to give City a much-needed lead before the break.

The hosts managed numerous attempts on target in a bid to get back into the game, but City then extended their lead in the 90th minute as Vivianne Miedema added a second.

The Seagulls finally got on the scoresheet in stoppage time through Charlize Rule, but it proved to be mere consolation, with not enough time to grab a second.

Nick Cushing's side remain seven points outside of the Champions League qualification places, but have four games to turn things around.

Man United punish Everton errors

Scorers: Janssen 22', Clinton 47'

Manchester United secured a 2-0 win over Everton in the early kick off on Sunday.

Dominique Janssen fired the hosts in front in the first half following a costly error from Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan, who misjudged a free kick and left the ball to fall kindly for the United defender.

Former Toffee Grace Clinton then doubled their lead shortly after the restart, turning in Leah Galton’s low, driven cross.

United remain third in the table with four games to go.
