The final takes place on Sunday, kicking off at 6pm UK time, after the third-place play-off between Gotham FC and ASFAR at 2.45pm.

And the last training session will take place on Saturday – with all eyes on co-captain Leah Williamson.

She was named in the Arsenal squad for the tournament but has been out for some weeks with an injury – an additional blow following her long recovery from a knee problem incurred during England’s victorious Women’s Euros campaign last summer.

But Gunners head coach Renee Slegers says it’s possible that Williamson may feature on Sunday – depending on how she does in training.

“Yeah, it’s looking good, so same players available,” she said in her press conference on Friday. “Really happy to have Chloe Kelly back; she worked hard to be back, she’s very hungry and faced with a lot of desire so that’s great.

“Leah Williamson is progressing really well and we’re working towards this game, but there’s still a couple of steps to take and there’s a training session tomorrow [Saturday].”

FIFA Women’s Champions Cup final will be hosted at Arsenal’s home ground

There has been a little disgruntlement about the scheduling of the competition as well as its location in London – with the final at Arsenal’s home ground.

Slegers has said that playing the final at the Emirates makes it extra-special.

“Competing against the champions of other continents, we had to earn the right to get into the final and I think the team did that brilliantly the other night,” she said. “So very excited about the final, we look forward to it and it’s a special moment for us.”
