Real Madrid have been dealt huge blow after confirming that Trent Alexander Arnold suffered muscle injury during the Champions league opener against Marseille.

The England international was forced off in the early minutes on Tuesday night raising fears of long term absence.

Official update from Madrid

In medical statement, the club revealed that the right back sustained hamstring injury in his left leg and will be monitored closely.

While the official note didn't mention recovery timeline, Spanish outlet MARCA reported that the defender could be sidelined for up to 8 week.

Crucial fixtures to be missed

If the 2 month absence is confirmed, Alexander Arnold will be out for 11 match including some of the most decisive games of Real Madrid’s season:

  • Atletico Madrid (La liga .. 27 Sep)
  • Juventus (Champions league .. 22 Oct)
  • Barcelona (La liga .. 26 Oct)
  • Liverpool (Champions league .. 5 Nov)

His expected return may come against Elche in la liga on 23 Nov 2025.

The injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti short of options at right back with Dani Carvajal likely to shoulder extra responsibility.

The absence of the 40m euro summer signing will test Madrid’s squad depth during congested run of fixtures in both domestic & european competitions.
