Xavi has signalled he is open to taking charge of a national team, saying the switch would better suit his family life. The former Barcelona coach is currently out of work.

"I would like a national team, yes. I say it openly," he said, speaking to RNE Deportes on Saturday.

The 46-year-old left Barcelona in 2024 after three seasons and has not returned to the dugout since.

His future may lie away from Spain, who face Argentina in Sunday's World Cup final at 21:00 under Luis de la Fuente.
