Yeray injured after heavy Bellingham challenge | OneFootball

Yeray Álvarez was injured after a heavy challenge from Jude Bellingham in the 20th minute of Real Madrid’s match against Athletic.

The Madrid player arrived late and clattered into the centre-back near the touchline, catching his right ankle. Yeray lay on the turf in clear pain and required several minutes of treatment from Athletic’s medical staff.

The incident sparked anger on the Athletic bench and among the 500 travelling supporters. The referee booked Bellingham, although the severity of the tackle could have merited further punishment.

Yeray managed to continue until the interval, but he looked uncomfortable and was seen limping at times.

Ernesto Valverde withdrew him at half-time, sending on Andoni Gorosabel for the second half. The reshuffle moved Vivián from full-back into central defence.
