"You're having a laugh" Felipe Melo slams the Vasco squad

Commentator Felipe Melo stirred up social media again this Tuesday by harshly criticizing Vasco players after reports circulated that part of the squad was dissatisfied with the training load applied by Fernando Diniz. The statement came hours after the club's organized supporters visited the Moacyr Barbosa training center to demand more from the team before the decisive match against Internacional.

In a video posted on social media, Felipe Melo did not hold back his words when commenting on the rumors:

“Want to win games without working, man?”

The veteran cited an episode he experienced in the Libertadores to counter the alleged complaint about "dinizismo":

“They are complaining about dinismo, that they are training too much. Let me tell you a story. We played in Peru against Sporting Cristal in the Libertadores. We came back and had two days before the Carioca final against Flamengo. Extreme heat. I, at 41 years old, the day before the final, ran almost 7 km, three and a half hours on the field. You know what happened? We became champions.”

In an indignant tone, Felipe Melo said he considered it “absurd” that athletes complain about work:

“Want to win games without working? This is absurd. If I were a Vasco director, I would take the fan who heard this and say: ‘give me the name’. They need to be let go. Criticism of Vasco's current situation and support for Diniz

The midfielder also mentioned the long title drought of Cruz-Maltino and reinforced support for coach Fernando Diniz:

“And Vasco with 30, 40 years without winning a title… For God's sake. Diniz, keep working hard. I know most of them are professional, but you have to get rid of the bad apple.”

Context: maximum pressure before a decisive game

Felipe Melo's statement went viral on the same day that members of an organized group were at the training center to demand commitment and attitude from the squad, which is experiencing its worst sequence in the Brasileirão: five consecutive defeats and a drop from 8th to 13th place in three weeks.

With only three games remaining to reach the 45 points considered “magic” against relegation, the match against Internacional is internally treated as a final.
