Youri Tielemans ‘in advanced talks’ over £35m Manchester United transfer | OneFootball

Youri Tielemans is set to leave Aston Villa for Manchester United, with the 29-year-old favouring a switch to Old Trafford and talks described as advanced, according to The Athletic.

The proposed deal is viewed as a surprise development. If completed, personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

Tielemans joined Villa on a free in 2023 after four years at Leicester and has been a regular under Unai Emery. He has made 134 appearances, helping Villa reach the Champions League and lift the Europa League last season.

At Leicester he became a fans’ favourite, most memorably scoring the winner against Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

He is understood to have a £35m release clause at Villa Park, which would leave Villa with a profit after signing him for nothing.

Villa are also expected to land Switzerland international Johan Manzambi after his impressive World Cup.

Should the transfer be finalised, Tielemans would join Andrey Santos in strengthening Michael Carrick’s midfield for United’s Champions League return, with their move for Atalanta’s Ederson now off.
